This volume contains poetry written by Jenny Bornholdt over the last thirty years. These are intelligent, quirky, often visually beautiful poems, from an experienced poet who has won many awards. Many poems are very accessible – “In the Garden” for instance, and disconcertingly human as in “Being a Poet.”
Bornholdt makes the ordinary extraordinary in her poetry. She makes us aware of the beauty in ordinary things. Old themes of loss, love, family, childhood are somehow made fresh and new. Her poems are spare, restrained and full of understatement.
Bordholdt’s poetry is very accessible. Warmly recommended for Year 10 up.
